Co-opportunity for Learning Event: What's New in Assessment Technology?
Bay West will host it's third in a series of Co-opportunity for Learning Events on March 10th, 2011. In one afternoon, we'll explore the 2011 environmental assessment trends broken down into three sessions.
Training Event Breakdown:
Session 1 - Mercury Vapor Assessment: The Invisible Liability
Mercury is an extensively used metal in the industrial and medical fields. Mercury contamination is often not considered by real estate managers, sellers, and professionals. This session will look at the equipment, cost and value of the assessments and subsequent remediation costs.
Session 2 - Vapor Intrusion: What It Means for Property Owners

The risk of vapor intrusion on, or adjacent to, contaminated properties has become an area of focus by the regulatory community. Minnesota has seen the development of a regulatory framework to assess and manage vapor intrusion risks on properties impacted by soil vapor contaminants. This presentation provides an overview of the human health, financial, and land use impacts associated with vapor intrusion and includes presentations by:
- Tom Higgins - Minnesota Pollution Control Agency
- Pace Analytical Services - an analytical laboratory on the forefront of soil vapor sample collection and analysis
Session 3 - Direct Sensing Technology: Accelerating Site Closeout
Lessons learned from over 750 high-resolution site characterizations including the need to understand both the hydro-stratigraphy and the contaminant distribution when making investigation and remediation decisions. Columbia Technologies CEO John Sohl will provide an overview of how to use today’s high resolution tools to build and develop weighted lines of evidence to support remediation performance. Bay West’s Matt Schemmel will present case studies on how these tools aided in site closure.
Bay West provides a full line of environmental consulting services. For more information call us at 800.279.0456, or visit our homepage.
Event will run from 1pm until 5pm on March 10th, 2011.
