ASSE Northwest Chapter selects Jamison Harrell-Latham
as Annual Honoree
(February 17, 2017, Saint Paul, Minn.)—The Northwest Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers has named K. Jamison Harrell-Latham, Corporate Health and Safety Manager at Bay West LLC, as its 2016 Safety Professional of the Year for Outstanding Leadership and Service to Northwest ASSE Chapter and Bay West LLC.
The annual award honors dedication and outstanding contributions by certified safety professionals who advance the safety profession, such as fostering professional development, public/community service, and outstanding leadership to the ASSE.
As a certified safety professional (CSP), Harrell-Latham has spent his 20-year career working in environmental, health, and safety compliance with industrial manufacturing, chemical processing, and retail firms such as Target Corporation, Koch Industries, Flint Hills Resources, Clorox, and Cargill Inc. In 2014, he brought his professional capabilities to Bay West where he helped the 43-year-old environmental consulting firm achieve several safety ‘firsts’, including achieving zero OSHA recordables, zero lost time incidents, zero Workers Compensation claims and an Experience Modification Rate of 0.65 during 2016.
“I am most proud of the difference I have made at Bay West, and honored to receive this award,” said Harrell-Latham.
Dave Anderson, CEO, Bay West LLC, noted in the nomination: “Jamison seemed to be everywhere – he could be found on job sites, in the shops, consulting with program managers, reviewing health and safety plans, auditing administrative records, investigating near-miss incidents, maintaining safety equipment, authoring and publishing lessons learned, performing inspections, conducting safety training, consulting with clients, and counseling employees on how to do better. He worked tirelessly to modernize our safety training records system and was available (literally) 24/7 to answer any safety related questions.”
Harrell-Latham also served as President of the ASSE Northwest Chapter in 2015-2016 (Platinum Award), and was a member of the Minnesota Safety Council Board of Directors. Harrell-Latham formally received his award during ASSE’s chapter meeting on February 14, 2016. The Northwest Chapter has over 850 members, and its geographical boundaries are North and South Dakota, Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
