Health and Safety in the Workplace Reaps Rewards
- Bay West, Inc. Receives Governor's Safety Award -
ST. PAUL, Minn. (April 1, 2010) – Bay West, Inc., a Twin Cities-based environmental and industrial services company, has been awarded the Governor’s Safety Award by the Minnesota Safety Council. This award is given to companies throughout the state dedicated to superior performance in workplace safety and health.
The Governor’s Safety Awards program has honored Minnesota employers with exceptional safety performance since 1934. Applicants are judged on several years of injury data as it compares with state and national statistics and on their progress in implementing a comprehensive safety program. Winners are recognized in one of three categories: The Meritorious Achievement, Outstanding Achievement, and Award of Honor.
“An effective safety program is an indicator of a successful organization,” said Carol Bufton, president of the Minnesota Safety Council. “Employers like Bay West understand that protecting employees is not only the right thing to do – it’s also good business.”
“The selection of Bay West to receive the Governor’s Meritorious Achievement Award illustrates our dedication to one of our three core values: Performing all activities with pride, integrity, and the highest regard for safety,” said Bay West Safety and Health Specialist, Dan Musser. “This award recognizes the broad safety culture that is instilled in the work we perform and the proactive approach we use to continuously enhance our safety behavior.” Bay West recently celebrated completion of more than 3,100 days (i.e., more than 8 years) without lost time from work.
