Taught by credentialed professionals, our Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHSMA) Department of Transportation (DOT) Hazardous Materials Training Course meets the 49 CFR Part 172, Subpart H training requirements for employees who transport hazardous materials (hazmat) in commerce, such as:

  • Persons who are self-employed, including owner-operators
  • Safety directors, hazardous materials managers
  • Persons who load, unload, or handle hazardous materials
  • Persons who drive hazardous materials trucks
  • Persons who make test, recondition, fill, or certify hazardous materials packaging
  • Persons who prepare hazardous materials for transportation

Course description: This course is designed for new employees (within 90 days after job start date) and existing employees who perform hazmat functions in their job; such as classifying, labeling, marking, packaging, placarding, and preparing shipping papers for the transportation of hazmat.  The course also covers emergency response information while the shipment is in transport, safety measures to follow, and security awareness.

PHMSA DOT Regulations (49 CFR Part 172.704) require hazmat employers to verify competence in required skills by a written or verbal skills test at the conclusion of the course.  Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate of completion that is good for three years.

This course is intended to teach workers their rights and responsibilities under CFR 1926.21 OSHA regulations, the steps involved in OSHA complaints and inspections, as well as how to prevent and abate safety hazards on the job site.

Taught by credentialed safety professionals, our Emergency Response Refresher course meets OSHA HAZWOPER 29 CFR 1910.120 requirement for annual refresher training for employees who have previously completed the initial 24-hour or 40-hour HAZWOPER training.

Course description: Receive hands-on, relevant training from the company that executes high hazard Emergency Spill Response cleanups on a weekly basis. This course is designed for general site workers who remove hazardous waste or who are exposed (or potentially exposed) to hazardous substances or health hazards during emergency spill response. The Bay West Advantage to you is that our course consists of opportunities to apply your learning, including group exercises, various hands-on demonstrations, and even knowledge share opportunities with Bay West Emergency Spill Responders also participating in the course (yes, we train our own experts!). Topics include HAZWOPER regulations, spill response awareness, hazard recognition/evaluation/control, basic toxicology, chemical protective clothing, decontamination, medical surveillance, respiratory protection, and atmospheric monitoring techniques.

Taught by credentialed safety professionals, this Emergency Response Operations level course consists of three days of hands-on, relevant training activities along with small group exercises that will get you in compliance with OSHA HAZWOPER 29 CFR 1910.120. Our OSHA-compliant course is designed for the “occasional site workers,” meaning those individuals who are not required to handle waste or hazardous materials as part of their job functions. 24-hour OSHA HAZWOPER is necessary for employees that respond to controlled and known spills as part of their company’s spill response team. Note – employees who have job functions that require handling or cleaning up hazardous materials that are unknown must complete the 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER initial training.

Course description: Don’t go through three days of lectures by retired industry folks without the safety professional credentials, or death by Computer-Based Training (CBT)!
