Basic Steps

The basic steps we will follow for a commercial building or public space are as follows:

Step #1

Site supervisor tours building with building representative to identify and inspect gathering/communal areas and any specific offices of affected employee

Step #2

Our team dons appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including full-face respirators and Tyvek suits, then follows the following cleaning and disinfection procedures:

Gathering/communal/public areas within building that contained affected employee:

  • CDC recommends cleaning frequently touched surfaces. These include counters, tabletops, chairs, light switches, remotes, sinks, doorknobs, bathroom fixtures, toilets, phones, keyboards & tablets.
  • CDC recommends cleaning (only for visibly dirty surfaces) followed by disinfection.
  • Cleaning of visibly dirty areas: wiped with soap and water. This refers to the removal of germs, dirt and impurities from surfaces to lower the germ and virus numbers.
  • Disinfection: Use a 10% diluted bleach solution (1/3 cup bleach per gallon of water). This refers to using chemicals to kill viruses and germs that may remain on a surface after cleaning.

Office/small room of affected employee:

  • Same as above PLUS
  • Remove any soft (porous) surface materials such as rugs and drapes and place them in disposable bags for laundering by client.

Step #3

One person documents each cleaned area within room (locations marked on map, where useful).

Step #4

The team follows appropriate decontamination procedures to protect themselves and prevent spread of COVID-19 outside of the facility, then bags up used PPE for appropriate disposal.
